Dinçer Erimez
1932, İstanbul doğumludur.
Güzel Sanatlar Akademisi'nde Cemal Tollu, Halil Dikmen ve Nurullah Berk'in
öğrencisi oldu.
1959-1960 yılları arasında İtalya'da, 1965-1966 yılları arasında Fransa'da
çalıştı, yarışmalara katıldı, sergiler açtı.
1952-1969 yılları arasında İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi Televizyonu'nda Sanat
Programları yönetti.
1978 yılında Kıbrıs'ta Girne'de, UMO Mimarlık Bürosu ile birlikte "Özgürlük ve
Barış" anıtının kabartma heykel ve metin yazılarını gerçekleştirdi.
Mimar Sinan ve Marmara Üniversitelerinde öğretim
üyeliği yaptı. (1968 de Mimar Sinan
Üniversitesi Güzel Sanatlar Fakültesi'nde Doçent ve 1981 de Profesör oldu.
1989'da Marmara Üniversitesi Atatürk Eğitim Fakültesi'ne tayin edildi.)
Yurt dışı ve yurt içinde birçok
koleksiyonda eserleri bulunmaktadır.
Born in 1932 in İstanbul. Enrolled in the İstanbul
State Academy of Fine Arts’ Painting Department in 1950. Studied under Halil
Dikmen, Cemal Tollu and Nurullah Berk and graduated in 1957. Became an assistant
in the same institution in 1963. Studied the Arts in the Antiquity between
1959-1960 in Italy. Became a student of Henri Goerts in Paris in 1965.
The influences of masters such as Caravaggio, Picasso, Chagall and Matisse
during the initial phase of his art career left their place to the authentic
sources of the Turkish culture, with which he reached a novel synthesis. Painted
the Eastern and Western elements based on their authentic sources.
Focused more on social subject matters in the Sixties. With multi-figured and
strong black and white compositions, he adopted a pointilist style. Aimed for a
visual narration of the union of nature, society and man through plain color,
texture and form. Influenced by the simple expression of folk art and the
innocence of children’s paintings, combined a sorrowful sensitivity in two
dimensional compositions based on traditional miniatures.
In his paintings of Atatürk (e.g. Atatürk 100 Years Old, 1982) in the Eighties,
he expressed love of country and mankind. Gouache, china ink, pastel, pen,
watercolor are some of his media. Dinçer Erimez also teaches at the Mimar Sinan
University.
