ECON 2014 Economic History of Turkey [Ver1 / Feb. 2019 Fatma Doğruel Spring 2019 Class meetings: Monday 09:30-11:50 Office hours: Wednesday 14:00-16:00 http://mimoza.marmara.edu.tr/~fatma.dogruel COURSE OBJECTIVE The course includes economic facts and the policies, which have been pursued over the Republican Period in Turkey. The first part of the course covers the period until the early 1950s. The second part begins in the late 1950s and extends to present day. The readings and discussions cover not only Turkish economic history, but also different countries’ economies from a comparative perspective. COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND GRADING The requirements of the course are to keep current with the readings and to participate in the classroom discussion. Grade for the course will be determined from performance on a midterm (40 %) and a final (60 %). Final examination will cover material from the entire course.
