2. AIM OF COURSE: The purpose of this course is to study biological wastewater treatment processes. Fundamental principles of the sludge treatment processes are also discussed.  

 

3. COURSE CONTENTS

Chp.1: Principal wastewater constituents of concern in biological wastewater treatment processes

    Classification of biological treatment processes used for wastewater treatment

 

Chp.2:  Role of microorganisms in biological wastewater treatment, composition and classification of microorganisms

 

Chp.3 : Kinetics of bacterial growth

 

Chp.4: Activated Sludge Processes

 

Chp.5: Process description of aerobic biodegradation of organic matter

 

Chp.6: Process description of nitrification

 

Chp.7: Aeration Systems, Air Requirement Calculations

 

 

Chp.8: Activated Sludge Configurations for BOD removal and Nitrification

 

 

Chp.9: Process description of denitrification
